SKS Mukah Brings Government Services to the People, 50 Agencies Offer 170 Services

MUKAH: Rather than simply waiting for the people to come to government offices, government services are being brought directly to the community.

This people-centred approach will be put into action through the Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 Programme for Mukah Division, where 50 government agencies and strategic partners will come together to offer 170 types of services at Dataran Pehin Setia Raja, Mukah, from Friday to Sunday.

The eighth edition of the SKS outreach series reflects the Sarawak Government’s efforts to broaden public access to government services, assistance, employment opportunities, healthcare, welfare support, entrepreneurship programmes and digital services through a single integrated platform.

Sarawak Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, said seven main service clusters would be featured throughout the programme.

These comprise Divisional and District Administration, Digital and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Development, Health, Social and Welfare Services, as well as Payment Counters.

According to her, SKS Mukah was originally scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30 but had to be postponed due to the haze, with the safety and health of the public and personnel being the foremost consideration.

“Therefore, a wide range of existing service counters, together with several new services, will be made specially available to visitors throughout the three-day programme.

“This programme serves as an important platform for the Sarawak Government to bring the government closer to the people by delivering services, information, assistance and opportunities directly to the community,” she said at a press conference.

Public Services Brought Together Under One Roof

Beyond the 170 services being offered, SKS Mukah adopts an approach that directly addresses the everyday needs of the community — from administrative matters and public complaints to employment, healthcare, welfare and the future prospects of young people.

Among the facilities available will be the Talikhidmat Counter for enquiries and complaints, registration for digital services such as SarawakPass and SPay Global, as well as services related to entrepreneurial financing and grants.

This approach allows members of the public to access a wide range of services at a single location without having to travel from one government office or agency to another.

At the same time, it reflects the Sarawak Government’s emphasis on delivering public services that are more accessible and responsive to the needs of the people.

Employment Opportunities Brought Directly to Youth

For young people and jobseekers, SKS Mukah will also provide opportunities to meet prospective employers directly through open interview sessions facilitated via the JobSarawak platform.

Among the participating companies are Sarawak Oil Palm Berhad, Press Metal Sdn Bhd, OM Materials (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Takaful Ikhlas, Tradewinds Plantation, Rinwood Plantation and TH Plantations.

These opportunities carry particular significance for young people seeking to build their careers and secure their future.

They also demonstrate that SKS is not merely a platform for obtaining government information but also serves as a bridge connecting the people with economic and employment opportunities.

Health and Welfare Remain Key Priorities

The Mukah edition will also feature several new elements, including the participation of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and services provided by the Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK).

The Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), meanwhile, will offer applications for marriage cards free of charge.

In the healthcare sector, the Sarawak State Health Department will provide health screenings, free influenza vaccinations for senior citizens, as well as free HPV DNA cervical cancer screening for women.

These services provide the community, particularly senior citizens and women, with easier access to preventive healthcare and health screening.

This makes SKS more than simply a programme that brings government administration closer to the people. It also addresses some of the most fundamental aspects of community life — health, family wellbeing and social security.

Sarawak Premier to Officiate SKS Mukah

The highlight of the programme will see Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg officiating the SKS 2026 Mukah Division programme this Saturday.

The Premier’s presence is expected to be one of the main highlights of the programme, which will bring together people from various communities across Mukah Division.

In addition to exhibitions and service counters, visitors will also have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including community games, cultural performances and the Konsert Rakyat.

A Proton Saga worth RM41,000 also awaits one lucky visitor through the e-Contest lucky draw.

Government Reaches Out to the People, Rather Than Expecting the People to Come to Government

The organisation of SKS Mukah reflects the service-delivery model pursued by the Sarawak Government, where public services are not confined to administrative offices but are brought closer to communities.

With 50 agencies and 170 services gathered in one location, the people of Mukah will have the opportunity over three days to access various government services, seek employment, obtain healthcare services, explore entrepreneurial opportunities and settle everyday administrative matters.

For a geographically vast state such as Sarawak, such a grassroots approach is important in ensuring that distance does not become a barrier preventing people from benefiting from government policies and initiatives.

In Mukah, the message conveyed through SKS is clear: development is not merely about major projects and economic figures, but also about how effectively government services reach the people and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

The programme also reflects the Abang Johari-led Sarawak administration’s continuing efforts to strengthen a public service delivery system that is closer to the people, more accessible and more responsive to community needs.

From senior citizens requiring health checks and women seeking health screenings, to entrepreneurs looking for financing and young people pursuing employment opportunities, SKS Mukah brings a wide spectrum of public needs together under one roof.

This is where the true meaning of Sarawakku Sayang is translated into action — a government whose presence is felt not merely through policies, but through services that the people can see, access and directly benefit from.
